Clark Outlasts Women’s Soccer Late Surge for 2-1 Win

Framingham, Mass.- The Framingham State women's soccer team fell to Clark University by a score of 2-1 in non-conference action Saturday afternoon in Framingham. With the win the Cougars improve to 2-0-0 and the Rams fall to 0-1-0.

The Cougars got on the board in the 22nd minute when Kara Fischer (Belmont, Mass.) headed Eliza Meltzer's (Framingham, Mass.) rebound past a diving Rams keeper.

The visitors tallied an important insurance goal in the 62nd minute when Fischer sent a strike off a free kick into the top right corner of the net.

The Rams cut the margin to one goal in the 82nd minute when Jana Paecht (Holliston, Mass.) converted on a breakaway after a long lead pass by Kayla Almstrom (Auburn, Mass.). The Rams had an opportunity to tie with just over five minutes to go. The Rams earned a corner kick that was sent into the box and the Rams shot was saved by the Clark goalkeeper.

Julianna Christy (Plainville, Conn.) made 10 saves in the victory for the Cougars. Keyonzia Gagne-Lamoureux (East Brookfield, Mass.) made 6 saves in the setback for the Rams.

The Rams outshot the visitors 17-to-14 and were awarded five corner kicks to the Cougars two attempts.

The Cougars will return to action on Tuesday, September 6th when they play Newbury College at Pine Manor. The Rams will travel to WPI for a non-conference matchup on the same day starting at 7 p.m.
