Miele’s Hat-trick Leads Women’s Soccer Through USM

Gorham, Maine- Framingham State senior Marissa Miele (Hudson, Mass.) registered a hat-trick en-route to a 4-1 victory over the University of Southern Maine in non-conference action Wednesday afternoon in Gorham, Maine.

With the win the Rams improve to 8-5-2 while USM slips to 3-11.

The Rams opened up scoring in the 18th minute when Miele sent in a cross from classmate Brini Varetimos (North Attleboro, Mass.). Miele struck again just under ten minutes later when she scored an unassisted goal in the 26th minute.

USM got on the board early in the second half when Jessica Preble found the back of the net in the 50th minute.

Miele scored again in the 69th minute with an assist coming from Angela Pallotta (Sterling, Mass.). The Rams reached the final margin when freshman Megan White (Charlton, Mass.) scored an unassisted goal in the 72nd minute.

Senior Sara Sullivan (Quincy, Mass.) made 3 saves before being relieved by freshman Jennifer Stevens (Hopkinton, Mass.) who made 1 save in the final 15 minutes.

The Rams outshot the hosts 18-to-6 and attempted 4 corner kicks to USM's 1.

Framingham State returns to action on Saturday, October 24th when they host Mass. Maritime on senior day at Maple St. Field.
