Framingham, Mass. – Worcester State junior Alicia Macomber (Stoughton, MA) scored the first of five Lancer goals just over six minutes into the contest leading the Lancers past the Framingham State University Rams Saturday afternoon at Maple St. Field. With the victory the Lancers improve to 7-1 (2-0 MASCAC) and the Rams fall to 5-3 (1-1 MASCAC).

The Lancers added to the lead when a Rams player deflected a ball into their own net after a corner kick. In the 51st minute senior Kaleigh Evans (Saugus, MA) beat the crashing FSU keeper to extend the lead with classmate Cassie Giardina (Westford, MA) being credited with an assist on the score.

With just under ten minutes remaining senior Sarina Lathrop (Hopedale, MA) tapped in a cross from Macomber to improve the lead to 3-0.

The Rams quickly answered, with less than two minutes remaining sophomore Michaela Hyland (East Longmeadow, MA) found the back of the net after a scramble in front of the net.  The Lancers once again answered just a moment later when senior Margo Clifford (Attleboro, MA) found the back of the net after a long lead pass from Evans.

Junior Jillian Witkowski made ten saves and allowed one goal in the victory while her counterpart sophomore Jess Anthony (Stoneham, MA) made four saves allowing five goals for the Rams.

The Rams return to action Wednesday, October 1 when they travel to Roger Williams for a 7:00 pm match.
