Women's Soccer Downs Mass. Maritime in Regular Season Finale

Framingham, Mass. – Sophomore Isabela DeSouza (Framingham, Mass.) tallied a pair of goals and an assist as the Framingham State University women's soccer team defeated Massachusetts Maritime Academy 9-0 this afternoon in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) women's soccer match at Maple Street Field.

With the win, the Rams improve to 7-9-1 on the season and 4-3 in the MASCAC, while the Bucs fall to 2-12 overall and 0-7 in the conference.

DeSouza tallied a pair of second half goals and made nifty diving header assist on senior Kristi Stewart's (Lunenburg, Mass.) goal in the 40th minute.  Stewart finished the game with a goal and an assist for the Rams, while junior Kayla Austin (Winchester, Mass.) tallied her team leading 9th goal of the year, a blast from the top of the box in the 23rd minute which was the game winner, and picked up a pair of assists. 

Seniors Lauren Bova (North Andover, Mass.) and Sarah Carey (Fall River, Mass.) each picked up single goals in their Senior Day Game, while juniors Mary Brinkmann (Bridgewater, Mass.), Cara Murtagh (Quincy, Mass.) and Emily Biegner (Easthampton, Mass.) also scored for the Rams.

Freshman Katie Levesque (Wilmot, NH) made 11 saves for the Buccaneers in her half of work, while senior Janelle Beaulieu (Buzzards Bay, Mass.) made six in her half of action in goal.  Freshman Jess Anthony (Stoneham, Mass.) made four saves for the Rams and recorded her second shutout of the season.

The Rams be the fourth seed in next week's MASCAC Women's Soccer Championship Tournament and will host fifth seed Salem State on Tuesday at 2 p.m. in one quarterfinal match.  The semifinals will be played on Friday evening and the Tournament will conclude on Sunday with the Championship game.
