Framingham, Mass. – Sophomore forward Kristen Ledin (Bridgewater, Mass.) tallied a pair of goals and three assists to lead the University of Massachusetts Boston Beacons to a 7-1 victory over the Framingham State University Rams in non-women's soccer action this afternoon at Maple Street Field.

With the win, the Beacons improve to 15-2 on the season, while the Rams fall to 6-9-1 on the year.

Ledin entered the game needing just four points to reach the 100 point plateau in her career and she reached the milestone on her second assist of the game.  Ledin is just the second UMass Boston women's soccer player to reach 100 career points.

UMass Boston jumped out to the early lead as junior Tayla Andrews (Plymouth, Mass.) and Ledin connected for a pair of goals.  In the 7th minute Ledin got behind the Rams defense and carried the ball down the sideline drawing the FSU goalkeeper off the line.  She laid a pass to Andrews in the middle and Andrews placed a shot in the corner for the 1-0 lead.  In the 13th minute the two connected again, but this time Andrews played the ball through to Ledin who found the back of the net for her 21st goal of the season.

The Beacons extended the lead to 3-0 in the 30th minute as Andrews and Ledin hooked up for the third time in the game on a play that was nearly identical to the first two.  Ledin sent Andrews a through ball pulling the keeper off the line and Andrews finished for her 16th marker of the season.

The Rams got on the board in the 34th minute as sophomore Melissa Higgins (Waltham, Mass.) was taken down in the box by a Beacon defender resulting in a penalty kick.  Junior Kayla Austin (Winchester, Mass.) took the kick for the Rams and placed a shot into the corner for her team leading 8th goal of the season.

The game would remain 3-1 until the 67th minute when the Beacons were awarded a penalty kick for an alleged hand ball by the Rams in the box.  Junior Sam Cristoforo (Rockland, Mass.) converted the kick for the visitors extending the lead to 4-1.

The Beacons would add three more after that to reach the final margin. Ledin added her second of the game in the 68th minute, freshman Samantha Fallon (Pembroke, Mass.) tallied her first collegiate goal off a Ledin assist in the 71st minute and classmate Sam Bendick (New Eqypt, N.J.) knocked home a rebound in the 89th minute.

The Beacons outshot the Rams 23-16 in the game and held a slight 3-2 edge in corner kicks.  Sophomore Kristen Spain (Quincy, Mass.) recorded the victory in net making six saves, while sophomore McKenzie Vershon (Chicopee, Mass.) made six saves for the Rams.

The Rams close out the regular season on Saturday when they host Mass. Maritime at 12 p.m., while the Beacons close their regular season on Saturday at 1 p.m. against Plymouth State.
