Framingham, Mass. – The Bridgewater State University women's soccer team tallied three first half goals en route to a 4-0 victory on the road this afternoon over Framingham State University in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) women's soccer action at Maple Street Field.

With the win, the Bears improve to 6-6-2 on the season and 2-1-1 in the MASCAC, while the Rams fall to 4-6 overall and 2-2 in the conference.

Bridgewater State took the lead for good in the 29th minute on an unassisted tally from sophomore forward Emily Lane (Parsonsfield, ME).  Lane blasted a shot into the back of the net from 25 yards out for her third of the season.

Three minutes later, the Bears extended their lead with a goal off a corner kick.  Freshman Mackenzie Hatfield (Whitman, Mass.) sent a corner into the box that classmate MaryRose Griffin (Whitman, Mass.) headed into the back of the net for her second marker of the season.

The Bears added a goal late in the half to push their lead to 3-0 when there was a scramble and loose ball in front of the net that Hatfield knocked in for her team leading seventh of the season.

The Bears would add a goal late in the game to reach the final margin.  Junior Caley McClendon (Keene, NH) sent a cross into the box from the left sideline that Olivia Creonte (Waltham, Mass.) knocked home.

The Bears outshot the Rams 12-8 in the game, but the Rams only had one shot on goal as the majority of their attempts sailed wide of the net.  Junior Kerry Condon (Whitman, Mass.) made one save and recorded her fifth shutout of the season, while sophomore McKenzie Vershon (Chicopee, Mass.) made five stops and suffered the loss.

The Rams return to action on Tuesday evening with a non-conference game at Wentworth at 7 p.m., while the Bears travel to Keene State on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
