Four First Half Goals Lift Women’s Soccer to 4-0 Win over MCLA

Framingham, Mass. – The Framingham State University women's soccer team erupted for four first half goals en route to a 4-0 victory over MCLA in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) women's soccer action this afternoon at Maple Street Field as part of Framingham's Homecoming and Family Weekend festivities.

With the win, the Rams even their record at 4-4 on the season and improve to 2-1 in the conference, while the Trailblazers fall to 3-6 overall and 1-2 in the MASCAC.

Sophomore goalkeeper McKenzie Vershon (Chicopee, Mass.) recorded her third shutout victory of the season making two saves in the game.

Framingham State took the lead for good in the 4th minute of action on junior Marissa D'Angelo's (Whitman, Mass.) first goal of the game.  She carried the ball down the left sideline, warded off two defenders and slipped a shot into the bottom corner.

Back-to-back goals from reigning MASCAC Player of the Week Marisa Parent (Revere, Mass.) would extend the Rams lead to 3-0.  In the 23rd minute Parent blasted a shot into the left corner from 25 yards out for her fifth goal of the season and in the 26th minute she recorded her team-leading sixth goal of the season, also an unassisted tally.

D'Angelo closed out the scoring in the 44th minute with her second of the game and third of the season.  She swiped the ball from a Trailblazer and sent a shot into the corner.

The Rams held a 23-5 advantage in shots for the game.  Sophomore Danielle Heinsohn (Norfolk, Mass.) made 11 saves for the Trailblazers but was tagged with the loss.

The Rams return to action on Tuesday afternoon at Keene State at 4 p.m., while the Trailblazers host Lyndon State on Thursday at 4 p.m.
