Tietgens’ Hat Trick Leads MCLA Past Women’s Soccer

Box Score

North Adams, Mass.- MCLA's Jess Tietgens (Stamford, VT) recorded three first half goals to lead the Trailblazers to a 5-0 victory over visiting Framingham State this afternoon at Shewcraft Field.  With the win, MCLA moves to 10-3, while the Rams fall to 4-8.  MCLA continues to keep pace and remains a half game back in the MASCAC as they improve to 4-1 in the league.

The Trailblazers would open the scoring in the 13th minute of play when junior Danielle Parenteau (Southampton, Mass.) converted a cross from freshman Hailee Pasa (Davenport, NY) to give MCLA a 1-0 advantage.  Tietgens would record her first tally of the afternoon just two minutes later taking a nice feed from freshman Lindsay Borbolla (Greenwich, NY) beating Ram keeper Kia Minor (Oak Bluffs, Mass.).  Tietgens, the leading scorer in the MASCAC with 18 goals, took a well placed ball from captain Jade Prickett (Southampton, Mass.) in the 27th minute hammering one home from close range.  She would complete the hat trick four minutes shy of halftime when she beat a Ram defender to a loose ball, outrunning the defense, converting to the near post.

Borbolla would complete the scoring taking another pass from Prickett just two minutes into the second half.

The Rams actually outshot the Trailblazers by a 28-16 margin.  MCLA sophomore keeper Jen Wehner (Cooperstown, NY) recorded her fifth shutout of the season.  She had a tremendous day in net recording a career-high 20 saves.  Wehner made some terrific saves as Framingham had many chances to break into the scoring column.

MCLA is back in action on Tuesday when they play host to RPI at 4p.m.  The Rams also play Tuesday, traveling to Southern Maine at 3:30 p.m.
