Women's Soccer Blanked by Worcester State

Framingham, MA- Senior midfielder Lauren Cush (Hudson, MA) scored the games only goal off a direct kick inside the box in the 74th minute of play to lift the visiting Lancers of Worcester State College to a 1-0 Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference (MASCAC) win over the Framingham State Rams on Maple Street Field this afternoon.  With the win, the Lancers improve to 8-4 on the season overall and 3-1 in MASCAC action, while the Rams slide to 4-6 overall and 1-2 in conference.

The match was evenly played and both teams had several quality scoring opportunities in the game as shots on goal for both teams were relatively even with Worcester attempting 12 shots to Framingham's 10 shots.  Both goal keepers were outstanding on the day in rainy conditions.  Freshman Tara Cavalieri (Attleboro, MA) made six saves on the day, while for the Lancers Erin Doherty (Uxbridge, MA) made seven saves and turned away several Ram offerings in the final minutes of play that would have tied the game.

The Rams return to action on Saturday as they travel to Salem State for a 1 p.m. game, while the Lancers host Western Connecticut on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
