Falcons Down Women's Soccer in Double Overtime

Framingham, MA-  The Fitchburg State College women's soccer team scored with 1:53 remaining in the second overtime to pick up the 2-1 victory over MASCAC foe Framingham State at Maple Street Field today.

Fitchburg State (4-1, 1-0) jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the 17th minute on sophomore Lauren Wundt's (Southwick, MA) fifth goal of the season.  Sophomore Ashley Dutcher (Littleton, MA) picked up an assist on the goal.

The Rams (3-4, 0-1) offense would come alive in the second half as they outshot the Falcons 11-4 in the second frame.  Freshman Jill Johnson (Mansfield, MA) finally got the Rams on the board in the 80th minute as she collected a rebound in front of the net and fired a shot past the Falcon goalie to knot the game at 1-1.

After eighteen scoreless minutes of overtime where both teams had their chances to score but neither could capitalize, Fitchburg State junior Katie Campbell (Pepperell, MA) knocked home the game winner at 108:07 to give the Falcons their first conference win of the season.

The Rams return to action next Saturday as they host Westfield State at 2 p.m., while the Falcons return to action on Tuesday at home against UMass Boston.
