Women's Soccer Edges Babson In Overtime

Framingham, MA- Freshman forward Melissa Price (Norwood, MA) scored the game winner in the 93rd minute of play to lift the Framingham State College women's soccer team to a 1-0 non-conference win over Babson College today at home on Maple Street Field.

Both teams had their chances to score in regulation but neither team could capitalize.  Framingham State goalie Tara Cavalieri (Attleboro, MA) was outstanding in the game as she turned away several quality scoring attempts and breakaways by Babson.  Cavalieri made seven saves on the day en route to the win.  Babson (3-3) goalies Sam Scarpato (Weston, MA) and Kristy Benoit (Shrewsbury, MA) combined to hold the Rams scoreless thru regulation and made three saves.

In overtime, the Rams (3-2) controlled the play at midfield in the opening minutes and senior Carolyn Reinstein (Ashland, MA) found junior Silvana Ortiz (Stoneham, MA) alone in the middle of the field.  Ortiz was able to feed the ball thru the Beavers defense to a streaking Price who was able to beat Benoit for the game winner.  The goal was Price's second on the season and her first collegiate game winning goal.

The Rams return to action on Thursday as they travel to Curry College for a 6:30 p.m. game, while the Beavers travel to WPI at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
