Women’s Lacrosse Opens Season with Setback at Babson

Babson Park, Mass. - The Framingham State University women's lacrosse team opened the 2024 campaign with a 20-8 loss this afternoon to Babson College in non-conference action at MacDowell Field.   

THE BASICS: 

-Scores:  Babson 20, Framingham State 8 

- Records: Framingham State (0-1), Babson (1-0)

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

  • Hannah Guerin and Rachel Erickson, who led all players with nine draw controls, both scored three times to lead the Rams.  

  • Leah Green had two goals, Kaleigh Houlihan finished with four ground balls and three caused turnovers, and Isabella DiMare made five saves in the loss. 

  • Amelia Novitch finished with five goals and two assists for Babson, Clare Connolly scored three times and won five draws, and Kathryn Blake scored once and dished out a game-high three assists to lead the Beavers.  

  • Kathleen Murphy stopped eight shots to earn the win between the pipes. 

  •  The Rams took a 1-0 lead just under five minutes into the contest on a tally from Green off a Regan Fein assist. 

  • Babson responded with an 8-0 run over the next 14 minutes.  as the Beavers led 8-1 with 10:06 to play in the second quarter. 

  • Erickson stopped the run with a free-position strike just 29 seconds later and Green followed up two straight goals by Guerin with her second of the game with 0:03 left in the stanza to get the Rams within 8-5 at the half.   

  • The Beavers outscored the Rams 4-1 in the third period and extended the lead to double digits in the fourth.

The Rams are back in action on Thursday when they travel to Norwich at 4 p.m.
