Women's Lacrosse Falls to Westfield State in MASCAC Tournament Finals

Westfield, Mass. - The third seed Framingham State University women's lacrosse team was defeated 21-15 by top seed Westfield State University this afternoon in the Championship game of the 2023 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Lacrosse Tournament at Alumni Field.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • The Rams were paced by six goals from Hannah Guerin, while Rachel Erickson chipped in with five goals and two assists. 

  • Molly Lanier found the back of the net twice and had seven draw controls, while Hailey Baker added a goal and an assist. Leah Green tallied a single goal for the Rams with two ground balls. 

  • The Owls were paced by six goals from Cassidy Harvey, while Natalie DeMaio added five goals and an assist. 

  • Westfield jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first quarter, but the Rams rattled off three straight including two from Lanier to lead 3-2 with just over eight on the clock. Westfield responded with a 5-0 spurt of their own pushing the lead to 7-3, but Baker and Erickson closed the frame with markers closing the gap to 7-5 after one. 

  • Westfield started the second half with a 4-1 run taking an 11-6 lead with just over 10 to play in the half. The two teams would trade goals over the final nine minutes of the frame with Erickson scoring twice for the Rams who trailed 13-8 at the half. 

  • In the third, the Rams pulled within four on several occasions including on a Green tally with just over six to play, but the Owls scored two straight to end the quarter and led 18-12 after three. 

  • The Owls opened up a 21-12 lead midway through the fourth, but the Rams closed the game scoring three straight – all from Guerin – to reach the final margin. 

  • Isabella DiMare took the loss in goal for the Rams, but made 11 saves.
