Women’s Lacrosse Shoots Past Montclair 21-6

Framingham, Mass. - The Framingham State University women's lacrosse team held Montclair to just one second half goal as the Rams defeated the Red Hawks 21-6 in non-conference action this afternoon at Maple Street Field 

THE BASICS:

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • Montclair got on the board first with a goal from Samantha Handzo just over a minute into the game, but the Rams responded with three straight including a pair from Hannah Guerin to lead 3-1 with just over five on the clock. Luciana Ferrara scored for the Red Hawks and Regan Fein tallied for the Rams giving them a 4-2 lead after one. 

  • The two teams traded goals to start the second period and the Rams led 5-4 with just over 11 on the clock. The Rams tallied three straight opening up an 8-4 lead with just over seven to play. Handzo tallied for the Red Hawks and Leah Green scored for the Rams giving the Rams a 9-5 lead at the half. 

  • The Rams outscored the Red Hawks 6-1 in the third quarter as they opened up a 15-6 lead after three. Guerin found the ack of the net just over a minute into the fourth period to give the Rams a ten goal advantage. The Rams held the Red Hawks scoreless for the final quarter as they secured the 21-6 victory. 

  • Green finished the day with a team-high six goals, while Guerin chipped in with five goals. 

  • Molly Lanier finished the day with four goals and 11 draw controls, while Regan Fein scored twice, handed out two assists and grabbed eight draw controls. Rachel Erickson finished the day with two goals, an assist and five draw controls. 

  • The Red Hawks received two goals apiece from Erin Meo and Ferrara. 

  • Isabella DiMare earned the victory in net for the Rams making seven saves in her half of action. Joey Grotkopf made 11 saves for Montclair.
