Women's Lacrosse Earns Second Seed in 2018 MASCAC Tournament

Framingham, Mass. – The Framingham State University women's lacrosse team has earned the second seed in this week's Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Lacrosse Tournament.

The Rams finished the regular season with a program best 15-2 record overall including a 6-1 mark in the MASCAC.   The Rams established a new school single season school record for victories with 15 surpassing the old total of 11 which was set a season ago.

The Rams have earned a first round bye in the tournament by virtue of their second place finish.  Third seed Bridgewater State hosts sixth seed Salem State in one quarterfinal of the MASCAC Tournament on Tuesday night with the winner advancing to face the Rams on Thursday night in Framingham in one semifinal.

The 2018 Rams were led offensively by sophomore Grace Gamache (Dartmouth, Mass.) who has tallied 50 goals and 51 assists on the season for 101 points, while senior Kimmy Foley (Mansfield, Mass.) is second on the team in scoring with 41 goals and 31 assists for 72 points.

Junior Indigo Fox Tree-McGrath (Bedford, Mass.) has started every game for the Rams in net this season and has a 15-2 record with an 8.47 goals against average.

The tournament field is rounded out by fourth seed Worcester State who hosts fifth seed Fitchburg State on Tuesday in the other quarterfinal.  The winner of that contest will advance to face top seed Westfield State on Thursday night in the other semifinal.

The two semifinal winners will meet on Saturday at the highest remaining seed in the championship game.  The winner of the championship game receives the MASCAC's automatic bid to the 2018 NCAA Division III Lacrosse Championship.
