Women’s Lacrosse Defeats Worcester State 19-10 in MASCAC Quarterfinal

Framingham, Mass. – The Framingham State University women's lacrosse team received seven goals from junior Kimmy Foley (Mansfield, Mass.) as the Rams defeated Worcester State University 19-10 in one quarterfinal of the 2017 MASCAC Women's Lacrosse Tournament this evening at Maple Street Field.     

With the win, Rams improve to 12-6 on the year and advance to face second seed Westfield State University in Westfield on Thursday night at 7 p.m. in one semifinal.  Worcester State sees their season come to a close at 5-13.

Foley led all players with her seven goals, while freshman Nicole Pacheco (Woburn, Mass.) added four goals.  Freshman Audrey Duaime (Belchertown, Mass.) chipped in with three goals, while sophomore Shae Riley (Fairhaven, Mass.) and freshman Grace Gamache (Dartmouth, Mass.) chipped in with two apiece.

The Lancers were paced by three goals and two assists from junior Mackenzie Little (Marlboro, Mass.), while senior Alaina Martin (E. Longmeadow, Mass.) also found the back of the net three times.  Senior Angelina Sutherland (Tyngsboro, Mass.) chipped in with five assists and a goal.

The Rams jumped out to a 5-1 lead just under 10 minutes into the half with Pacheco finding the back of the net twice.  The Lancers answered with a spurt of their own to pull within one (5-4) on a tally by Little with 18 minutes left in the first.

The Rams closed the opening half with a 6-1 run taking an 11-5 lead at the break. Foley found the back of the net four times during the run, while Duhaime connected twice.

The Rams pushed the lead to 17-6 on a marker from Gamache with just over 15 minutes remaining in the game.  The Lancers cut the deficit to nine with a pair of goals in the final three minutes.

Sophomore Indigo Fox Tree-McGrath (Bedford, Mass.) earned the win in net making eight saves, while Krissy Pessa took the loss while making six stops.
