Women’s Lacrosse Earns Third Seed in 2017 MASCAC Tournament

Framingham, Mass. – The Framingham State University women's lacrosse team has earned the third seed in this week's Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Lacrosse Tournament.     

The Rams finished the regular season 11-6 overall and 5-2 in the MASCAC.  The Rams established a new school single season school record for victories with 11 surpassing the old total of 10 which was set in 2012.

The Rams will hosts sixth seed Worcester State University on Tuesday, May 2nd at Maple Street Field in one quarterfinal of the tournament.  The winner will advance to face second seed Westfield State University on Thursday, May 4th at 7 p.m. in Westfield.

The 2017 women's lacrosse team was led offensively by freshman Grace Gamache (Dartmouth, Mass.).  Gamache leads the Rams with 44 goals and six assists for 50 points in 11 games this season.  Junior Kimmy Foley (Mansfield, Mass.) follows with 46 points on the year, while freshman Nicole Pacheco (Woburn, Mass.) has added 30 goals and 11 assist for 41 points during her rookie season.  Foley has tallied 29 goals on the year including the 100th of her career to go along with a team-best 17 assists.  The Rams have also received solid play this season from sophomore goalie Indigo Fox Tree-McGrath (Bedford, Mass.) who has a 7.00 GAA with 117 saves on the year.

The tournament field is rounded out by fourth seed Fitchburg State University who hosts fifth seed Salem State University on Tuesday in the other quarterfinal.  The winner of that contest will advance to face top seed Bridgewater State University on Thursday in the other semifinal.

The two semifinal winners will meet on Saturday at the highest remaining seed in the championship game.  The winner of the championship game receives the MASCAC's automatic bid to the 2017 NCAA Division III Lacrosse Championship.
