Strong Second Half Sends Women’s Lacrosse Past Salem 13-5

Salem, Mass. – The Framingham State University women's lacrosse team tallied eight second half goals en route to a 13-5 victory over Salem State University in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action at Alumni Field.

With the win, the Rams improve to 8-6 on the year and are now 3-2 in the league, while the Vikings fall to 4-10 overall and 2-3 in the MASCAC.

Leading 5-4 at the half, the Rams tallied the first four goals of the second half to open up a 9-4 lead with just over 17 minute remaining.  Freshman Nicole Pacheco (Woburn, Mass.) converted a free position shot and junior Kimmy Foley (Mansfield, Mass.) followed with an unassisted marker in the first four minute of the frame.  Senior Lindsay Nixon (Woburn, Mass.) converted on a feed from Foley and freshman Grace Gamache (Dartmouth, Mass.) followed with a free position tally.

Samantha Barrett cut the deficit to 9-5 with 17 minutes left in the game, but that was as close as the Vikings would get as the Rams tallied the final four markers of the game including one each from Gamache, Pacheco and Foley.

Gamache paced the Rams with four goals in the game, while Pacheco finished with three an an assist.  Foley also chipped in with three goals and two assists.

The Rams outshot the Vikings 35-14 in the game and held a 33-21 edge in ground balls.

Sophomore Indigo Fox Tree-McGrath (Bedford, Mass.) recorded the victory in net making six saves.

The Rams are back in action on Wednesday night when they travel to Massachusetts Maritime at 7 p.m.
