Women’s Lacrosse Edged 10-8 by Eastern Connecticut

Framingham, Mass. – The Framingham State University women's lacrosse team rallied from four goals down in the first half to tie the game before eventually falling 10-8 to Eastern Connecticut State University in non-conference action this afternoon at Maple Street Field.     

With the win, the Warriors improve to 6-1 on the season, while the Rams are now 5-2.

In the first half, Eastern Connecticut jumped out to a 4-0 lead including a pair of goals from junior Katie Burke (South Windsor, Conn.).  The Rams cut the lead to 4-1 on a goal by sophomore Shae Riley (Fairhaven, Mass.) with 19:08 remaining in the half, but Eastern answered with a goal from Alyssa Powers (Ellington, Conn.) to push the lead to 5-1.

The Rams countered with a 4-0 run tying the game at 5-5 on a marker from Riley with just over seven minutes remaining in the first.  Freshman Nicole Pacheco (Woburn, Mass.) scored a goal and picked up an assists during the run.  Eastern took the lead back with just under three minutes remaining in the first on a free position shot from Paige Schneider (East Lyme, Conn.) and headed to the half up 6-5.

The Rams opened the second half with a goal from freshman Grace Gamache (Dartmouth, Mass.) just over 20 seconds into the frame tying the game at 6-6.  Eastern Connecticut responded just 30 seconds later with a goal from Jenna Glynn (West Granby, Conn.) to retake the lead for good.  Eastern added a pair of goals with 18 minutes remaining extending the lead to 9-6.

The Rams cut the deficit back to one (9-8) after a goal from Foley with 14 minutes remaining and an unassisted tally from Gamache with just over 10 left in the game.  Eastern tacked on an insurance goal with two minutes remaining to reach the final margin.

Taylor Emmerson earned the win in net for the Warriors making 10 saves, while sophomore Indigo Fox Tree-McGrath (Bedford, Mass.) took the loss while making eight stops.

The Rams are back on the field Wednesday night when they travel to Emmanuel for a 7 p.m. contest, while the Warriors host Connecticut College on Tuesday evening at 5 p.m.
