Women's Lacrosse Drops Season Finale at Westfield

Westfield, Mass. -  Thirteen players scored at least one goal for Westfield State as the Owls charged to a 17-4 win over Framingham State in the final MASCAC regular-season game of the year and the Owls' Senior Day at Alumni Field on late Saturday afternoon.
 
Westfield State improves to 13-4 and clinches a share of the MASCAC regular season title with a 5-1 record. The Owls will receive the top seed in next week's MASCAC tournament and get a bye into the semifinals which will be played Thursday at Westfield.
 
Framingham drops to 9-8, and 3-4 in the MASCAC.  The Rams will be the fifth seed in the MASCAC tournament.
 
Westfield ran out to a 10-0 halftime lead with eight players scoring a goal before Hunter Zackaricz capped the half with back-to back free position goals for the Owls.
 
Westfield pushed the score to 12-0, starting the second half with back to back goals from Samantha Lungarini, both coming off feeds from fellow senior Roni Orcutt.
 
Framingham got on the board with an unassisted tally from Morghan Cassella with 25:53 remaining in regulation.
 
Lungarini finished with three goals to lead the Owls.  Orcutt added a goal and four assists. 
 
Cassella led the Rams with two goals.  Framingham starting goalkeeper Indigo Fox Tree-McGrath made 13 saves in 39 minutes of play.
