Women’s Lacrosse Pull Outs 15-13 Victory over UMass Dartmouth

Framingham, Mass. – The Framingham State University women's lacrosse team received seven goals from sophomore Kimmy Foley (Mansfield, Mass.) including the game winner as the Rams defeated the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth 15-13 this afternoon in non-conference action at Maple Street Field.     

With the win, the Rams improve to 7-4 on the season, while the Corsairs fall to 5-5.

Foley led all scorers with her seven goals, while junior Kristen Hoggins (Harvard, Mass.) and sophomore Morghan Cassella (Lowell, Mass.) picked up three goals apiece.

With the score tied 2-2 with 16 minutes remaining in the opening half, the Corsairs tallied two straight to take a 4-2 lead. Senior Colleen Kane (Arlington, Mass.) struck first at the 13 minute mark for her 200^th career goal and Raquel Riley (Wakefield, Mass.) followed with an unassisted goal.  Foley scored back-to-back markers for the Rams to tie the game with just over nine remaining. 

UMass Dartmouth tallied two goals 16 seconds apart to take their second two goal advantage of the half, but the Rams tallied the final two goals of the frame to send the game to the locker room tied at 6-6.

The second half opened with the Rams taking their first lead of the contest with just under 23 minutes remaining on a tally by Hoggins.  UMass Dartmouth countered with a pair of goals to take a 10-9 lead with just under 18 minutes remaining.  Over the next nine minutes the two teams traded goals with UMass Dartmouth taking a one goal lead and the Rams tying the game.

The Rams finished the game with three straight goals to secure the win.  They tied the game with 8:12 on the clock on a tally by freshman Bailey Donelly (Framingham, Mass.) and took the lead for good with 7:19 left on Foley's 7^th of the day.  Cassella  provided some breathing room converting a free position shot with 4:34 left in the game.

Freshman Indigo Fox Tree- McGrath (Bedford, Mass.) earned the victory in net for the Rams making 10 saves, while Kaitlyn Burchill (Bridgewater, Mass.) made nine saves and took the loss for UMass Dartmouth.

The Rams are back in action Saturday afternoon at MASCAC rival Worcester State at 1 p.m., while the Corsairs host Eastern Connecticut on Saturday at 1 p.m. in Little East action.
