Framingham, Mass. – The Framingham State University women's lacrosse team was defeated this evening 12-6 by Emmanuel College in non-conference action at Maple Street Field.

With the win, the Saints improve to 2-2 on the year, while the Rams dip to 2-3 on the young season.

The two teams traded goals in the opening minutes with senior Sarah Higgins (Groveland, Mass.) converting a free position opportunity for the Saints and sophomore Kimmy Foley (Mansfield, Mass.) scoring for the Rams.  Emmanuel tallied three straight to take 4-1 lead with just over 17 minutes remaining in the first.  Foley pulled the Rams back within two with her second of the game and sophomore Morghan Casella (Lowell, Mass.) struck with 12 minutes remaining to cut the deficit to one.  The Saints had a pair of first half goals negated due to illegal sticks as they went into the locker holding a 5-3 lead after an unassisted tally from junior Amanda Cook (Saco, Me.).

Emmanuel opened the second the second half with four straight goals including a pair from Higgins and a pair from Kristen Tuleja (Mansfield, Mass.) to take a 9-3 lead.  Foley connected again for the Rams with 18 minutes left and with eight minutes remaining to cut the deficit to 9-5.    A cook goal would push the lead back to five, but a goal by Casella cut the lead back to four with five minutes remaining. That was as close as the Rams would get as the Saints added two more in the final two minutes to reach the final margin.

Lauren White (Lynnfield, Mass.) recorded 14 saves for the Saint in the win, while Indigo Fox Tree-McGrath (Bedford, Mass.) had eight stops for the Rams.

The Rams are back in action next Wednesday when they host Mount Ida in a non-conference contest beginning at 4:30 p.m., while the Saints are back on the field Saturday at 3 p.m. when they host Albertus Magnus at 3 p.m.
