Women's Lacrosse Defeats Becker 14-9

Leicester, Mass. – The Framingham State University women's lacrosse team received four goals from sophomore Kimmy Foley (Mansfield, Mass.) as the Rams defeated Becker College 14-9 in non-conference action this afternoon at Alumni Field.

With the win, the Rams improve to 2-0 on the young season, while the Hawks slip to 0-4 on the year.

Becker took their only lead of the game just under 30 seconds into the contest on Victoria Belcher's marker, but the Rams closed the first half scoring the next six goals to take control of the game.  Morghan Cassella (Lowell, Mass.) and Claryssa Cunniff (Framingham, Mass.) each scored unassisted to put the Rams ahead 2-1 at the 17:41 mark.  Erin Lally (Westwood, Mass.) and Shae Riley (Fairhaven, Mass.) followed with unassisted tallies, while Lindsay Nixon (Woburn, Mass.) scored off a pass from Cassella and Jessica Graham (Woburn, Mass.) converted off a Riley helper to extend the lead to 6-1 at the break.

Becker scored two straight to open the second half before the two teams traded goals over the next 10 minutes as the Rams led 9-5.The Rams pushed the lead to 14-7 before the Hawks closed the game with two straight to reach the final margin.

Foley led the Rams with four goals, while Lally tallied three.  Graham and Cassella finished the game with a goal and two helpers apiece.

Indigo Fox Tree-McGrath (Bedford, Mass.) earned her first win in net for the Rams making nine save.

The Rams are back in action next Tuesday and Thursday with games against Transylvania and Nichols in Hilton Head, South Carolina.
