Reilly Leads Women’s Lacrosse Over Wheelock

BOSTON, Mass.- Senior Zoe Reilly (Boyertown, PA) scored a game high 4 goals as the Framingham State women's lacrosse team defeated Wheelock College 9-4 in non-conference action this evening at Winsor Field. With the win the Rams improve to 5-2 and the Wildcats fall to 0-5.

Wheelock netted the first goal of the contest as freshman Molly Koon (Londonderry, N.H.) won the opening draw and raced the length of the field to bury her shot 16 seconds in.

Framingham State responded a little under three minutes later as Reilly knotted the game at 1-1 and began a streak of seven consecutive goals for the Rams. The visitors would take a 7-1 advantage into the break.

In the second half, the Wildcats fought back and outscored the Rams 3-2. Seniors Molly Centore (Kennebunk, Maine) and Emma Marrs (Old Lyme, Conn.)scored the first two goals of the period to bring Wheelock within 7-3.

That would be as close as the home squad would get as Reilly stopped the bleeding with her fourth goal of the game to make it 8-3 with 16:18 on the clock.

The Wildcats were led by Koon who had two goals, an assist, and three draws. Marrs added a goal, an assist, and a game-high four draws while Centore had a goal and a team-high four ground balls.

The Rams were led by Reilly who had game-highs of four goals and eight ground balls. Six other players chipped in with at least one point as rookie Kimberly Foley (Mansfield, Mass.) headed that group with a goal and two assists.

Wheelock sophomore goalie Meghan Lewis (South Berwick, Maine) while saving nine of the 18 shots she faced as junior net minder Alysha Cericola (Waltham, Mass.) improved to 3-2 on the year with five stops.

Wheelock returns to action on Saturday April 11th on the road in NECC play against Mitchell at 1:00 p.m. Framingham State stays on the road for a matchup with UMass-Dartmouth tomorrow at 7:00 p.m.
