Offense Powers Women’s Lacrosse Past Mitchell

Framingham, Mass. – Six Framingham State University women's lacrosse players scored double-digit goals in route to a 19-4 victory over Mitchell College at the Maple Street field on Wednesday evening. With the win the Rams move to 1-1 and the Mariners fall to 0-3.

Sophomore Kristen Hoggins (Harvard/Acton-Boxborough) scored the first of her three goals to break a 2-2 tie early in the first half. The Rams offense then caught fire scoring ten unanswered goals in the remainder of the 1st frame. The Rams then outscored Mariners 6-2 in the second stanza.

Freshman Morghan Cassella (Lowell) scored a game high 4 goals in addition to Hoggins' 3 scores and junior Stephanie Leonard's (Framingham) 3 goals and an assist. Sophomores Jessica Graham (Woburn) netted two goals and Claryssa Cunniff (Framingham) scored a pair on the day for the Rams.

Sophomores Amanda Rowan (Sandy Hook, CT) & Ashley Murtha (South Windsor, CT) each tallied a pair of scores to account for the 4 Mainers goals.

Sophomore Taylor Dansereau (Griswold, CT) made 17 saves for Mitchell while freshman Kelsey Morgan (Southborough/ Algonquin) made 4 saves for the Rams.

Framingham State returns to action on Saturday, March 28th when they travel to Salem State to open up MASCAC play. The game is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
