Women's Lacrosse Breaks into Win Column with Triumph over Mitchell

New London, Conn. – The Framingham State University women's lacrosse team was back in action after an extended break and defeated Mitchell College 22-0 on Sunday afternoon in non-conference action at Alumni Field.

Nicole L'Heureux (Dracut, Mass.) led the Rams with five goals while Lindsay Nixon (Woburn, Mass.) and Jessica Graham (Woburn, Mass.) each added three. A total of 11 different players potted goals on the day for FSU, which picked up its first win of the season. Goalie Alysha Cericola (Waltham, Mass.) played the entire game and made four saves to record the shutout.

Mitchell goalies Jaleesa Peeples (Camden, N.J.) and Anysia Lombardo (South Windsor, Conn.) combined to turn away 10 shots. The Rams outshot the Mariners 36-5 in the contest and held a 17-7 edge in draw controls.

L'Heureux scored her team's first three goals, all in the opening 7:03 of the game. Nixon, Kristen Hoggins (Harvard, Mass.) and Amy Rotger (Revere, Mass.) also netted a pair of goals in the first half as the Rams led 13-0 at the break.

L'Heureux, who also led all players with five ground balls and six draw controls, scored the first goal of the second half and added her fifth with 11:57 remaining. Graham scored all three of her goals over the final 30 minutes.

Mitchell (1-1) will next host Regis College on Tuesday, March 25 at 4 p.m. Framingham State (1-1) returns to action at home against Rhode Island College on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
