Women’s Lacrosse Closes Regular Season with 15-2 Loss to Westfield State

Framingham, Mass. – The Framingham State University women's lacrosse closed the regular season at home this afternoon with a 15-2 loss to Westfield State University in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action at Maple Street Field.   

With the win, the Owls improve to 9-4 on the year and remain in second place in the MASCAC standings at 4-1, while the Rams end the season 1-12 overall and 1-4 in the conference.

Framingham State University freshman goalie Alysha Cericola (Waltham, Mass.) stopped 11 shots in the game for the Rams and established two new FSU single season goalie records.  Cericola has made 144 stops on the season which surpasses the old mark of 139 and she averaged 11.08 saves per game this season which is also a new single season mark.

The Owls were led by four goals and three assists for seven points by sophomore Amanda Bouchard (Lexington, Mass.).  Classmate Stephanie Lenhardt (Duxbury, Mass.) chipped in with three points on a goal and two helpers, while senior Maura Stack (Wilbraham, Mass.) added three on two goals and an assist.  Freshman Megan Griffin (Granby, Conn.) and senior Sadie Graham (North Andover, Mass.) added two goals apiece.

The Rams were led by a goal apiece from junior Lauren Kent (Framingham, Mass.) and senior Jen Sheridan (Lowell, Mass.), while senior Heather Masse (Billerica, Mass.) and freshman Amanda Geary (Marlboro, Mass.) chipped in with a helper apiece.

The Owls outshot the Rams 31-13 in the game including a 21-8 advantage in the first half as they built an 8-1 lead at the break.  The Owls started the game with four goals in the first ten minutes and never looked back.

Freshman Mimi Khampaeng (Hampden, Mass.) picked up the win in net for the Owls making six saves.

The Owls close out the regular season on Saturday afternoon when they host Massachusetts Maritime Academy at 1 p.m.
