Women’s Lacrosse Defeats Elms 19-7

Framingham, Mass. – The Framingham State University women's lacrosse team won their second straight New England Women's Lacrosse Alliance (NEWLA) game this afternoon as they defeated the Elms College Blazers 19-7 at Maple Street Field.

With the win, the Rams move back to .500 evening their season record at 6-6 and improve their conference mark to 3-2, while the Blazers slip to 0-12 overall and 0-6 in the conference.

Senior Kerry Kiley (Mansfield, Mass.), who became the first FSU women's lacrosse player to amass 200 career points on Saturday, continued her offensive tear scoring a game-best six goals to go along with an assist.  Junior Brittany McLean (Walpole, Mass.) chipped in five goals and two helpers, while classmate Chelsea Temple (Rutland, Vt.) tallied three markers and picked up two assists.  Sophomore Lauren Kent (Framingham, Mass.) contributed a pair of goals and an assist, while freshman Ashley Holmes (East Sandwich, Mass.), sophomore Kerri Robinson (Mashpee, Mass.) and junior Heather Masse (Billerica, Mass.) each tallied a goal.

The Blazers were led by sophomore midfielder Kayla Narey (South Hadley, Mass.) who tallied a team-best three goals including a pair of free position markers.  Freshman Elisha Godbout (South Hadley, Mass.) chipped in a pair of goals, while senior Emily Walsh (Hadley, Mass.) and freshman Lauren Mazza (Agawam, Mass.) each scored once for the visitors.

The Rams jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead with McLean scoring twice just under ten minutes into the game.  Walsh got the Blazers on the board at 18:47, but the Rams rattled off the game's next six goals over a five minute span to take a commanding lead.

The Rams outshot the Blazers 42-13 with Holmes recording the victory in net as she made a pair of stops. Sophomore Rebecca Rixon came on in relief in goal and made a save in 45 minutes of work.  Senior Rachel Schrutt (Chicopee, Mass.) picked up the loss for the Blazers as she made 17 saves.

The Rams return to NEWLA action on Saturday morning when they travel to Salem State University at 10 a.m., while the Blazers travel to Wheelock College on Thursday evening at 8 p.m.
