Women’s Lacrosse Defeats Mount Ida 16-8

Framingham, Mass. – Senior Kerry Kiley (Mansfield, Mass.) tallied a game-best four goals and an assist to lead the Framingham State University women's lacrosse team to a 16-8 win over Mount Ida College as the Rams earned their first victory of the season this afternoon at Maple Street Field.

With the win, the Rams even their record at 1-1, while the Mustangs fall to 1-4.

Framingham State never trailed in the game as they got on the scoreboard just 31 seconds into the contest.  Freshman Zoe Reilly (Boyertown, PA) carried the ball in front of the goal and found the back of the net for her first of the game.

Back-to-back goals from Kiley, on a free position chance, and sophomore Lauren Kent (Framingham, Mass.) off an assist from Kiley pushed the Rams lead to 3-0.

Mount Ida freshman Amanda Bowen (Randolph, VT) answered with her first of three in the game off an assist from junior Alexandria Milot (Tiverton, RI) to cut the Rams lead to 3-1 with 22 minutes left in the half.

A quick 3-0 spurt by the Rams in the span of 1:30 extended their lead to 6-1 before the Rams settled on a 7-3 advantage at the half.

The Rams opened the second half with a 7-0 run over the first 20 minutes to put the game out of reach.  Kiley tallied three on the run, while sophomore Heather Masse (Billerica, Mass.), junior Chelsea Temple (Rutland, VT), Reilly and Kent each added one.

Mount Ida cut into the Rams lead with four goals in six minutes including two unassisted tallies from sophomore Molly Sheppard (Brookhaven, NY) to cut the Rams lead to 14-7 with six minutes remaining in the game.

Kent and Reilly added insurance goals for the Rams, while Milot added a goal with less than a minute remaining to reach the final margin of 16-8.

Bowen and Sheppard finished the game with three goals apiece for the Mustangs, while Milot added two and a helper.

Reilly and Kent each finished with three goals apiece for the Rams, while McLean, Massey and Temple finished with two apiece.

Freshman Ashley Holmes (East Sandwich, Mass.) picked up the win in net making eight saves, while Kayla Musty (Topsham, VT) made 17 and picked up the loss.

The Rams return to action on Saturday with a non-conference game at Simmons at 1 p.m., while Mount Ida hosts Norwich on Saturday also at 1 p.m.
