Noonan and Corrales Lead Rams to 19-3 Win Over Thomas College

Framingham, Mass. — Behind four goals apiece from senior Ashley Noonan (Mansfield, Mass.) and junior Stephanie Corrales (Framingham, Mass.) the Framingham State College women’s lacrosse team picked up a 19-3 non-conference win over Thomas College this afternoon at Maple Street Field. With the win the Rams improve to 5-3 on the season, while the Terriers fall to 2-8. 

Corrales picked up a game-high three assists to go along with her four goals.  Sophomore Kerry Kiley (Mansfield, Mass.) and freshman Chelsea Temple (Rutland, VT) scored three goals apiece, while Jenna Plant (Pittsfield, Mass.), Brittany McLean (Walpole, Mass.), Courtney Robinson (Beverly, Mass.), Victoria Majcher (Framingham, Mass.) and Kelsy Smith (Norwood, Mass.) scored single goals for the Rams.

Framingham State outshot the Terriers 40-11 and took control of the game early taking a quick 1-0 lead just 21 seconds in on Kiley’s first goal of the game.  Corrales put the Rams up 3-0 just under three minutes later as she scored back-to-back goals a little over a minute apart.  Kiley, Plant and Corrales all added goals in the next six minutes giving the Rams a 6-0 lead at the 9:01 mark.

Thomas College forward Kiley Jolicoeur (Oakland, ME) got the Terriers on the board with an unassisted goal at 10:57 and after another Ram goal Kristalyn Kidd (Plainfield, Conn.) scored again for the Terriers making the score 7-2 with just over ten minutes remaining in the half.

The Rams closed the first half with four unanswered goals including two from Temple to take an 11-2 lead at the break.  The Rams then scored the first seven goals of the second half to open the game and take an 18-2 lead.  Megan Denby (Copiague, NY) converted a free position opportunity with just over nine minutes remaining in the game for the Terriers final goal.

Thomas College goalie Teshia Cates (Skowhegan, ME) faced 40 shots in the game and made 12 saves, while Framingham State freshman goalie Kelsey Turner (Billerica, Mass.) made four save and picked up her fifth win of the season.

The Rams return to action on Tuesday as they travel to Westfield State at 7 p.m., while the Terriers face Green Mountain tomorrow at 11 a.m.
