Women’s Ice Hockey Notches Program’s First Victory; Chamoun Posts Shutout

Worcester, Mass. – The Framingham State women's ice hockey team secured a 1-0 victory over Anna Maria College in MASCAC action Friday evening in Worcester. The milestone win is the first victory for the Rams first-year program who played their first game in October.  

THE BASICS:

  • Records: Framingham State (1-21 1-14-0), Anna Maria (9-14-2, 6-7-2) 

  • Location: Horgan Arena – Worcester, Mass. 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

1st Period: 

  • Both teams played a defensive opening frame, with neither side able to find the back of the net. 

  • Anna Maria applied early pressure, outshooting Framingham State 19-6 in the period, but Lila Chamoun stood tall in net for the Rams. 

2nd Period: 

  • Framingham State broke the deadlock just 45 seconds into the second period when Lily Wilson capitalized on a defensive miscue to give the Rams a 1-0 lead. 

  • Anna Maria continued to push offensively, but Chamoun made key saves to preserve the lead. 

 3rd Period: 

  • Anna Maria pressed for the equalizer, outshooting Framingham State 10-9 in the final frame. 

  • The Rams' penalty kill played a crucial role, successfully shutting down all 10 Anna Maria power plays throughout the game. 

  • Framingham State held strong defensively in the closing minutes to secure the shutout victory.

Anna Maria: 

  • Megan Tegethoff: 17 saves 

  • Ceili Nolan: 7 shots on goal 

Framingham State: 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • Anna Maria outshot Framingham State 48-18. 

  • Framingham State went 0-for-4 on the power play, while Anna Maria was 0-for-10. 

  • The teams combined for 15 penalties, totaling 30 minutes.  

  • Lila Chamoun recorded her first shutout of the season with a stellar 48-save performance.

The Rams close the regular season on a high note and will head into the MASCAC Tournament starting on February 26th. Official pairings will be released by the MASCAC later this week.
