Last Minute Layups Lift Women's Basketball Past Lasell 63-59

Framingham, Mass. - The Framingham State University women's basketball team received a pair of layups from Faith Greene in the final minute as the Rams erased a one point deficit and defeated Lasell College 63-59 in non-conference action at Logan Gymnasium.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

  • The Rams received 17 points apiece from Katherine Haselton and Faith Greene.  Haselton connected on 7-of-14 from the floor and added eight rebounds, seven assists and two steals, while Greene connected on 7-of-15 and completed the double double with a team-high 15 rebounds to go along with three blocks and a steal. 

  • Jacqueline Schels chipped in with 11 points, eight rebounds, three asstists, two steals and two blocks, while Michelle Moreno filled the stat sheet with seven points, three rebounds, an assist and four steals. 

HOW IT HAPPENED 

  • In a back and forth first quarter with five ties and two lead changes, the Laser used a jumper in the closing seconds to lead 15-13 after one. 

  • The Lasers opened the second quarter scoring the first five points of the frame to lead 20-13 before the Rams got on the board with a Brodie Gannon three with 5:51 on the clock.   

  • The Laser extended the lead to 26-20 with just over three minutes to play, but the Rams closed the half with an 8-0 capped by a pair of Haselton buckets to lead 28-26 at the break. 

  • The third quarter mirrored the first with multiple ties and lead changes and neither team leading by more than three until a pair Schels free throws put the Rams up 52-48 heading to the fourth quarter. 

  • The game stayed tight throughout the fourth quarter with the Rams taking a 58-54 lead on a Haselton jumper with 4:30 to play. 

  • The Lasers answered with five straight points taking a 59-58 lead with 2:24 to play. The Rams regained the lead for good on a Greene layup with 54.7 on the clock. After a Lasell turnover, Greene converted again putting the Rams up 62-59 with 26/2 remaining. 

  • The Lasers had three attempts to tie the game, but Green was able to corral the rebound on the third attempt. Haselton sank one of two free throws to secure the victory.
