Women’s Basketball Celebrates Senior Day with 89-54 Victory over Fitchburg State

Framingham, Mass. - The Framingham State University women's basketball team closed the regular season with an 89-54 victory over Fitchburg State University this afternoon in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action at Logan Gymnasium.

- Records: Framingham State (22-2, 11-1 MASCAC), Fitchburg State (5-20, 2-10 MASCAC)

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

  • The Rams have won the 2023-24 MASCAC Regular Season Title and will be the top seed in next week's MASCAC Tournament. 

  • Flannery O'Connor paced the Rams with 20 points on 10-of-19 from the floor and added six rebounds and two assists. 

  • Kelsey Yelle finished the game with 16 points on 7-of-8 from the floor and added six boards, an assist and two steals, while Gabriella Redford added 12 points off the bench for the Rams. 

  • The Rams opened the game with a 10-0 run capped by a Katherine Haselton three and led 22-5 midway through the first quarter.  

  • The Rams led 28-13 after the first and continued to build the lead in the second quarter taking a 53-26 lead into halftime. O'Connor led the Rams with 16 first half points, while Yelle tallied 14 in the first two quarters. 

  • Prior to the game, the Rams honored their four seniors who are playing in their final season – O'Connor, Gwendolyn Carpenter, Regan Fein and Jenna Tavanese.

The Rams who earned the top seed in next week's MASCAC Tournament will host one semifinal on Thursday night.
