Women's Basketball Cruises to 79-54 Victory over Salem State

Framingham, Mass. - The Framingham State University women's basketball team jumped out to an early lead and never looked back as the Rams defeated Salem State 79-54 this evening in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action at Logan Gymnasium.

- Records: Framingham State (12-2, 1-1 MASCAC), Salem State (6-7, 0-1 MASCAC) 

- Location: Logan Gymnasium Framingham, Mass.  

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

  • Kelsey Yelle paced the Rams on the offensive side of the ball as she connected on 8-of-12 from the floor for 21 points to go along with eight rebounds, a steal and a block. 

  • Chloe Rayko chipped in with 11 points off the bench as she connected on 3-of-6 from behind the arc, while Gabriella Redford added nine points including 3-of-8 from long range. 

  • Abigail Martin and Gwendolyn Carpenter finished with seven points apiece, while Carpenter added five boards and five assists. 

  • The Vikings were led by 20 points and nine rebounds from Nicolette D'Itria, while Abuk Teng tallied 15 points with eight boards and three assists. 

  • The Rams jumped out to an 8-3 lead to start the game, but the Vikings closed the gap to 12-9 midway through the frame. The Rams closed the first with a 10-4 run to lead 22-13 after one. 

  • The Rams maintained the double digit lead throughout the second quarter leading by as many as 26 before taking a 45-22 lead into the half. Yelle paced the Rams with 19 points in the first half. 

  • The Rams started the third quarter with a 7-0 and maintained the sizeable lead to secure the victory.
