Women’s Basketball Moves to 4-0 After Taking Down St. Lawrence

Middlebury VT The Framingham State women's basketball team defeated Saint Lawrence by a score of 75-66 in day two of the Middlebury Tip-Off Tournament Saturday afternoon.  

THE BASICS: 

- Score:  Framingham State 75, Saint Lawrence 66 

- Records: Framingham State (4-0), Saint Lawrence (0-4) 

- Location: Pepin Gymnasium Middlebury, VT 

HOW IT HAPPENED:  

  • The Saints hit a trey to open scoring in the first but the Rams scored the next 11 points to jump out to an 11-3 lead. The Saints would battle back but the Rams would end the first up 21-14 and 44-36 going into the half.  

  • The Rams would outscore the Saints 17-to-9 in the third and would hold a double-digit lead for most of the second half 

 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • The Rams were led by senior Flannery O'Connor who scored 24 points with 10 rebounds for the double-double. Classmate Gwendolyn Carpenter scored 14 points with four boards, three assists and two steals. 

  • Kelsey Yelle chipped in 15 points off the bench going 7-of-10 from the floor.  

  • The Saints received strong performances of 15 points from Elizabeth Flynn and 14 points from Norah Niesz both off the bench.  

  • The Rams shot 39% from the field and only 13% from long range while the Saints shot 39% from the floor and 31% from downtown.

  • Turnovers were the difference in the game, the Saints turned the ball over 18 times leading to 18 points for the Rams while the Rams eight turnovers only turned into four points for the Saints.
