Women's Basketball Sets New Single Game Points Mark with 102-55 Victory over Westfield State

Framingham, Mass.  The Framingham State University women's basketball team saw four players tally double figures as the Rams established a new FSU single game point record in a 102-55 victory over Westfield State University this evening in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action at the Athletic Center.  

THE BASICS:

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • Senior Camille Desrochers buried a three with 2:53 left on the clock in the fourth quarter to set the new single game record of 102 points. The old mark was 101 points set on January 11, 2020 in a contest against Westfield. 

  • Sophomore Flannery O'Connor led all scorers with a double double effort of a game-high 28 points and 15 rebounds to go along with two assists and two steals. 

  • Classmate Katty Haidul added a double double of her own with 21 points and a game-best 20 rebounds. That is Haudul's second game this season with 20 rebounds. 

  • Senior Krysta Padellaro notched the Rams third double double in the game as she tallied 17 points and added 11 rebounds, six assists and a steal. 

  • Desrochers finished the game with 17 points connecting on 5-of-7 from behind the arc to go along with two rebounds, two assists and three steals, while sophomore Gwendolyn Carpenter finished just shy of a double double with nine points and a game-high 11 assists. 

  • The Owls were led on the offensive end by Jordan Grant who tallied a team-high 18 points off the bench. Grant connected on 9-of-14 from the floor and added eight boards, two assists and two steals. 

  • Maddie Pond chipped in with seven points, while Jess Gardner and Olivia Hadla added six apiece. 

  • The Rams shot 56% from the floor in the game (42-75) and 62% from behind the arc (5-8), while the Owls connected on 23% of their offerings (18-79) and just 9% from behind the arc (3-36). 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • The Rams opened the game with a 9-0 run fueled by four points from O'Connor. 

  • The Owls got on the board with a pair of Jess Gardner free throws with 7:46 on the clock making the score 9-2. 

  • The Rams controlled the paint in the first quarter outscoring the Owls 22-2 in the frame and leading by as many as 20 in the opening quarter before taking a 29-12 lead after one.  O'Connor led all scorers with 13 points in the opening frame. 

  • The Rams continued to build the lead in the second quarter and kept the Owls off the scoreboard until the 2:52 mark when Grant converted a jumper making the score 41-14. 

  • The Rams received double doubles from O'Connor and Haidul in the first half as they led 52-21 at the break. 

  • The Rams maintained the large lead throughout the second half en route to the victoy.

The Rams are back in action on Wednesday night when they host Worcester State for a MASCAC clash at 5:30 p.m., while the Owls travel to Fitchburg State on Wednesday for a league game at 5 p.m.
