Women's Basketball Cruises to 70-48 Victory over Lasell

Framingham, Mass.  The Framingham State University women's basketball team saw four players tally double figures as the Rams defeated Lasell 70-48 in their home opener this evening at the Athletic Center.  

THE BASICS:

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • The Rams were led by a team-high 15 points and nine rebounds from Flannery O'Connor.  O'Connor connected on 6-of-8 from the field and added two steals and two blocks. 

  • Camille Desrochers finished the game with 14 points after connecting on 5-of-9 from the floor including 4-of-7 from behind the arc. 

  • Katty Haidul finished the game with 12 points and seven boards for the Rams, while Kelsey Yelle added 10 points, five boards and three steals off the bench. 

  • Gwendolyn Carpenter handed out a game-high 10 assists for the Rams and added five points and five rebounds. 

  • Lasell was led by a game-best 16 points from Meg Carroll. Carroll, who connected on 6-of-12 from the floor, narrowly missed a double double as she grabbed eight boards. 

  • Brooke Damboise was the only other Laser with double figures as she tallied 12 points with three rebounds and three assists. 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • The Rams started the game with an 11-0 run before the Lasers got on the board on a layup with just over five minutes remaining in the first quarter. 

  • The Rams led 17-4 with just over three minutes left in the first after back-to-back threes from Desrochers and took a 22-7 lead after one quarter. 

  • The Rams maintained the sizable lead throughout the second quarter and took their largest lead of the half on a three by Carpenter as time expired in the second.  The Rams connected on five threes in the opening half and shot 53% from the field to just 31% for the Lasers in the opening half. 

  • The Rams continued to build the lead in the third quarter leading by as many as 26 before heading to the final quarter up 60-36. The Rams maintained the lead throughout the fourth quarter and earned the victory.

The Rams are back in action on Tuesday when they host Rivier at 5:30 p.m., while Lasell hosts Northern Vermont on Tuesday at 7 p.m
