Overtime Buzzer Beater Sends Women’s Basketball Over Williams; 67-66

HOW IT HAPPENED:  

• The Ephs jumped out to a first half lead rattling off a 10-3 run late in the first quarter, pushing their lead to as many as nine early in the second quarter. The Rams battled back cutting the defecit to 22-20 on a Katherine Haselton layup halfway through the period but the host Ephs answered with the final 7 points to head to the locker room up 29-20.  

• In the third the Rams would chip away finally tying the game with just over a minute to play in the quarter when Gwendolyn Carpenter's layup went down to make it 39 all. After an Ephs timeout the Rams forced a turnover and Haselton nailed a trey to go up 42-39.  

• The Rams forced overtime after a Devin Biesbrock trey gave the hosts a one-point lead with under a minute to play Padellaro hit one-of-two free throws to tie the game at 57. Williams called a timeout, advanced the ball but the Rams were able to force a missed shot and head to overtime.  

• In overtime, neither side would lead by more than a possession. Flannery O'Connor gave the Rams a three-point lead with about two minutes left. Maddy Mandyck rolled in a layup to make it 65-64. After trading turnovers in the final minute the Rams fouled Biesbrock in transition with four seconds left. She would hit both of her shots from the stripe to lead 66-65.  

• The Rams would call timeout and advance the ball. On the inbound Padellaro drove to the hoop lofted a layup that would fall right back to her and she sank the put back as the buzzer sounded to give the Rams a 67-66 win.  

• Padellaro scored a team best 15 points with six boards and three steals. Jenna Tavanese added 15 points from the bench for the Rams going 5-for-8 from the charity stripe. Gwendolyn Carpenter added 13 points with six rebounds and two steals. Flannery O'Connor added nine points with 13 rebounds and a block.  

• Maddy Mandyck led the Ephs with 16 points, 13 boards and four blocks earning the double-double. Arianna Gerig also posted a double-double with 13 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks.  

• The Ephs shot 38.5% from the field (25-of-65) and 27.8% (5-of-18) from long range. Framingham shot 28.8% (21-of-73) from the floor and only made 1-of-11 shots from beyond the arc.  

• Williams was 11-for-12 from the free-throw line while the Rams scored 24 points from the line on 41 attempts.
