Women’s Basketball Runs Through Wellesley; 79-61

WellesleyMass  The Framingham State women's basketball team defeated Wellesley College in non-conference action by a score of 79-61 Wednesday evening in Wellesley.  

THE BASICS:

HOW IT HAPPENED:  

  • The Rams set the tone early taking a lead big lead in the first quarter. Leading 5-4 about five minutes in the Rams rolled off a 11-0 run capped by a Katty Haidul layup to lead 16-4.  

  • The stretched their lead to 28-8 early in the second quarter after a Flannery O'Connor layup and the Rams would take a 43-22 lead into halftime.  

  • The Blue would battle hard in the second half but wouldn't get any closer than nine points midway through the 4th quarter.  

 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • O'Connor paced the Rams on offense with 25 points, 23 of which came in the first half, with eight boards, three steals and a block. Haidul added 12 points and a game best 16 rebounds, three steals and two blocks for her second straight double-double.  

  • Gwendolyn Carpenter added 17 points with a game best nine assists going 11-for-12 from the line. Krysta Padellaro added 13 points and three assists while Camille Desrochers added ten points with five rebounds and four helpers.  

  • Caitlin Windross led Wellesley with 12 points and 11 rebounds while Jiyun Chae added 12 points in the loss for the Blue.

  • The Rams return to the court Friday, November 19th when they play Hamilton at Williams College at 8pm
