Women’s Basketball Shoots Past Anna Maria 93-65
Framingham, Mass. – The Framingham State University women's basketball team connected on 10-of-13 from behind the arc in the first two quarters as the Rams cruised to a 93-65 victory over Anna Maria College this evening in non-conference action at the Athletic Center.
With the win, the Rams improve to 4-3 on the season, while the Amcats fall to 1-6.
The Rams were paced by a career and team-high 13 points from freshmen Abbey Battaini (Haverhill, Mass.) and Bryanna Santos (Brockton, Mass.). Battaini connected on five-of-eight from the floor including three-of-six from behind the arc to go along with nine boards and two assists. Santos connected on six-of-13 from the floor and added eight rebounds.
The Rams received points from 11 players in the game including 12 off the bench from freshman Camille Desrochers (Westford, Mass.). Desrochers connected on four-of-eight from behind the arc, while senior Lauren Donahue (Attleboro, Mass.) added nine on three-of-four from long range. Senior Raegan Mulherin (Baldwinville, Mass.) added 10 points, while freshman Breanna Tack (Chicopee, Mass.) chipped in with nine and nine rebounds.
The Amcats were led by a game-high 27 points from Kayla Odegaard (Rockland, Mass.). Odegaard connected on 10-of-19 from the floor including seven-of-13 from behind the arc and added eight boards. Kristina Russo (South Winsor, Conn.) added 14 points and four boards for the visitors.
The Rams led by five midway through the first, but closed the quarter with a 15-0 run that featured three from behind the arc including a pair from Battaini. A 20-8 run by the Rams to start the second quarter put the game out of reach as the Rams took a 64-22 lead at the half.
The Rams, who shot 77% from behind the arc in the first half, shot 46% from the floor in the game and 57% (13-23) from three, while the Amcats shot just 36% from the floor and 42% from long range. The Rams held a 30-6 advantage in points in the paint and received 60 points off their bench to just nine for the Amcats.
The Rams are back in action on Saturday when they host Suffolk at 1 p.m., while Anna Maria travels to Regis College on December 11th for a 5 p.m. contest.
