Newton, Mass. – Framingham State sophomore guard Mary Kate O'Day (Berlin, Mass.) scored a career-high 24 points en route to a Rams 59-46 victory over Lasell College Tuesday evening. With the win, the Rams even up at 2-2 on the year. The Lasers are now 2-1.
O'Day led the charge for the Rams with a game-high 24 points going 10-for-16 from the floor, while adding six rebounds and three assists in the victory. Junior Tiphani Harris (Revere, Mass.) added 7 points with a team-high 9 rebounds and sophomore Mallory DeFeo (Arlington, Mass.) tallied 7 points with 8 boards.
Morgan Church led the Lasers with 12 points and Dana Ross picked up a game-high 16 rebounds.
The Rams jumped out to a quick 6-0 lead and would not trail the entire game. Lasell was able to keep pace through the first frame until the Rams rattled off a 10-2 run in the middle of the second quarter capped by an O'Day layup to take a 25-13 lead late in the 1st half.
The Rams went 23-for-58 (39.7%) from the field compared the 15-of-55 (27.3%) for the hosts. FSU took advantage of the 24 Lacers turnovers converting them for 17 points.
Lasell opens up conference play on Wednesday, November 29th against Suffolk with a 7:00pm Tip-Off. Framingham State also returns to action on Wednesday at 6:00pm as they host Newbury College.
