Women’s Basketball Charge Past Bears; Rackliffe Reaches 1,000 Career Points
Framingham, Mass.- Four different players scored double digits for the Rams as the Framingham State women's basketball team defeated Bridgewater State 84-54 Sunday evening in Framingham. With the win the Rams improve to 11-2 and 2-0 in the MASCAC. The Bears fall to 4-9 and 0-1 in league play.
Framingham State senior Alycia Rackliffe (Feeding Hills, Mass.) scored 14 points and collected ten rebounds for a double-double. During the game Rackliffe became the 10th player in program history to reach the 1,000 career point milestone.
Junior Raegan Mulherin (Baldwinville, Mass.) scored a game-high 16 points with eight boards and four assists. Senior Monta Connolly (Lynn, Mass.) added 14 points of her own while freshman Mallory DeFeo (Arlington, Mass.) contributed 12 points off the bench.
The Bears were led by Nicole Bostick (Bridgewater, Mass.) who scored 14 points, 12 of which were from beyond the arc and Janet Maher (Mansfield, Mass.) added 9 points.
A Maher layup a little over halfway through the second gave the Bears a 25-24 lead but the Rams would come charging back. The host then spun off a 15-0 run spanning into the opening minutes of the third to take a 39-25 advantage. The Rams outscored the Bears 28-12 in the third frame
The Rams shot 47% from the floor (31-of-66) and 30% (6-for-20) from long range. The Bears shot 30/3% (20-of-66) from the field and 31% (9-for-29) from beyond the arc.
The Rams return to action on Wednesday, January 11th when they travel to Westfield State. The Bears will host Fitchburg State on the same day.
