Huge Third Quarter Blows Women’s Basketball by Salem State

Framingham, Mass.- The Framingham State women's basketball team received double-digit scoring from four different players en route to a 97-75 victory over Salem State in the MASCAC opener for both squads. With the win the Rams improve to 10-2 overall and 1-0 in the league. The Vikings move to 8-6 and 0-1 in conference play.

Senior Alycia Rackliffe (Feeding Hills, Mass.) led all players with 21 points and 10 rebounds in her double-double performance. Raegan Mulherin (Baldwinville, Mass.) added 18 points including five from beyond the arc and 8 assists. Lauren Donahue (Attleboro, Mass.) scored 14 points with 7 helpers and Quinn O'Connell (Sterling, Mass.) added 13 points.

The Vikings also had four players in double figures. Norma Waggett (Saugus, Mass.) scored 18 points shooting 7-of-11 from the field. Kia Fernandes (Wareham, Mass.) and Saran Kaba (Dorchester, Mass.) both added 13 points while Kate Lipka (Peabody, Mass.) scored 12 points.

The Rams broke their ten point lead open early in the third quarter when they rattled off a 25-4 run featuring 8 points by Rackliffe to extend their lead to 72-43 with just over two minutes to play in the third quarter.

The Rams return to action on Saturday, January 7th when they host Bridgewater State at 3:00 p.m. The Vikings travel to Worcester State on the same day.
