Women’s Basketball Surges Past Lasell 79-32

Framingham, Mass. – The Framingham State University women's basketball team received 23 points from junior Quinn O'Connell (Sterling, Mass.) as the Rams defeated Lasell College 79-32 in non-conference action at the Athletic Center.

With the win, the Rams improve to 4-0 on the young season, while the Lasers even their mark at 2-2.

O'Connell led all scorers with her game-best 23 points on 8-of-12 from the field including 6-of-9 from behind the arc.  O'Connell also added four rebounds, four assists and five steals.  Freshman Mary Kate O'Day (Berlin, Mass.) was the only other Rams to reach double figures with 11 points on 4-of-7 from the floor.

The Lasers were led by 10 points from Madison Cota who connected on 3-of-5 from the field while also grabbing six boards.  Jaime Caron chipped in with six points off the bench, while Brianna Hoffman and Liz Bougie added five apiece.

The Rams opened the game with a 10-0 run capped by an Alycia Rackliffe (Feeding Hills, Mass.) layup, but Lasell countered with an 8-0 spurt of their own to pull within two.  The Rams answered with 13-0 run to close the first and take control of the game.

The Rams are back in action next Tuesday when they host Mount Ida College at 6 p.m., while the Lasers travel to MCLA next Monday at 7 p.m.
