Framingham, Mass.- The Framingham State women's basketball team defeated Salem State in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action by a score of 60-41 Saturday afternoon in Framingham. The victory is the Rams fifth straight as they improve to 14-5 and 6-1 in league play. The Vikings slip to 6-14 and 2-5 in conference action.

The Rams were led by junior Monta Connolly (Lynn, Mass.) who registered a double-double with a game-high 17 points and 10 rebounds while dishing out 6 assists. Junior Alycia Rackliffe (Feeding Hills, Mass.) scored 12 points with 11 boards and sophomore Lauren Donahue (Attleboro, Mass.) added 11 points and 6 assists.

The Vikings were paced by junior Kaitlyn Bryan (Lowell, Mass.) with 12 points and freshman Tyra Scott (Methuen, Mass.) who scored 10 points and collected a game-high 17 rebounds.

The Rams took an early lead scoring the first 6 points but it would seem the two teams would trade scores for much of the first half of play. The Vikings took the lead halfway through the 2nd quarter on a Bryan layup to go up 19-18. The Rams called timeout and then rattled off a 12-2 run to end the half and enter the breakup 30-21. FSU's run continued in the 3rd frame as they scored the first eight points on two buckets each by Donahue and Connolly and would find themselves leading 40-21 halfway through the 3rd. The Vikings would try to chip away but never got the deficit closer than 12 points.

Neither team shot particularly well from the floor as the Rams shot 28.9 percent while the Vikings shot 27.4 percent. FSU was able to convert 4-of-19 from downtown to Salem's 1 trey in 13 attempts.

The Rams will return to the floor on Wednesday, February 3rd when they host Bridgewater State in MASCAC action at 6:00 p.m. The Vikings will travel to Worcester State on the same day.
