Offensive Outburst Leads Women’s Basketball Past Pine Manor

Framingham, Mass.- Framingham State University sophomore Alycia Rackliffe (Feeding Hills, Mass.) scored twenty points and collected twelve rebounds in a 81-63 victory over Pine Manor College Tuesday evening in Framingham. With the victory the Rams improve to 8-2 and the Gators fall to 4-2.

Five Rams scored in double figures led by Rackliffe and sophomore Monta Connolly (Lynn, Mass.) who scored 15 points and collected seven rebounds. Senior Nicole Bostic (Easton, Mass.) posted twelve points and collected ten boards registering a double-double. Freshmen Lauren Donahue (Attletboro, Mass.) and Casie Thurber (Springfield, Mass.) each scored 12 points. Thurber had 8 boards and Donahue registered 4 assists. Senior Johanna Annunziata (Auburn, Mass.) led the team with 7 assists and 5 steals.

The Lakers were led by junior Alexis Lee (Akron, Ohio) with 16 points and sophomore Jayva Johnson (West Haven, Conn.) with 15 points. Maria Vaughan (Okinawa, Japan) had game high six steals.

The two teams turned the ball over a combined 53 times in the contest. The Rams shot 51.6% from the floor including 23.5% from three-point range. The Gators shot 31% from the floor but had a 27.3% mark from downtown.

The Rams controlled the lead for most of the first half after trailing early. The home team took a 42-30 advantage into the half. The Gators found themselves trailing 50-42 before going on 12-5 run featuring a trey from Lee and two from Johnson. An Erica Jones (Atlanta, GA.) jumper at 09:17 capped the run and left the Gators trailing by a point, 57-56.

The Rams answered with consecutive treys by Annunziata and Donahue to start a 20-3 run putting them up 77-59 with just under three minutes to play.

The Rams return to action on Thursday when they host Westfield State to open up conference play. Tip-off is at 6:00 p.m.
