Women’s Basketball Outlasts MIT; 58-55

Framingham, Mass.- The Framingham State University women's basketball team held off a late surge to defeat the MIT Engineers by a score of 58-55 Tuesday evening in Framingham. With the win the Rams improve to 6-2 and MIT evens at 4-4.

The Rams took a 33-27 lead into the break behind a strong first half by sophomore Alycia Rackliffe (Feeding Hills, Mass.) who had ten points and seven boards to start the game. Senior Nicole Bostic (Easton, Mass.) finished the game with a team leading seventeen points, including eleven in the closing frame.

The Engineers were led by junior Sabrina Drammis (Hilton Head, S.C.) who finished with a double-double. She scored twenty-one points and collected ten rebounds.

The Rams slowly grew their lead early in the second half. It grew as large as 14 points when Bostic hit a three-pointer with just over thirteen minutes remaining to expand the lead to 46-32. Then Engineers started chipping away and closed the score to a one point game when senior Mari Kordell (Ijamsville, MD) hit a jumper to make it 52-51. Monta Connolly (Lynn, Mass.) made a layup and was fouled but missed the back end of the three point play to make it 54-51 and that was as close as the Engineers would get.

The teams traded baskets then Kordell made a jumper with six seconds to go to make it 58-55 but the Engineers could not get possession as the Rams allowed the clock to expire.

The Rams return to action on Saturday, December 13th when they travel to Anna Maria for a 1:00 p.m. start. The Engineers travel to Endicott this Thursday for a 7:00 p.m. tip.
