Women's Basketball Shoots Past Rivier 88-80

Nashua, N.H. – The Framingham State University women's basketball team received 25 points off the bench from senior Johanna Annunziata (Auburn, Mass.) as the Rams defeated Rivier University 88-80 this evening in non-conference action at Muldoon Gymnasium.

The Raiders are now 2-5 on the season while Framingham State improves to 4-2.

Trailing 30-28 with 3:28 remaining in the opening stanza, the Rams rattled off a 19-6 run to close the half and take control of the game.  Annunziata fueled the spurt with four threes on the run, while senior Nicole Bostic (Easton, Mass.) also knocked down one from long range.

Annunziata scored a game high 25 points including knocking down 5-of-8 three point attempts. Sophomore Monta Connolly (Lynn, Mass.) added a double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds. Sophomore Alycia Rackliffe (Feeding Hills, Mass.) just missed her own double-double as she finished with 10 points and nine rebounds. Senior Margo McCarthy (Southampton, Mass.) recorded 14 points in the win for Framingham State.

Sophomore Caitlyn Perry (Nashua, N.H.) and senior Deanna Purcell (Hudson, N.H.) each scored over 20 points in the contest. Perry was 7-for-19 from the floor as she led the team with 23 points. Purcell went 9-for-12 and recorded 21 points while collecting six rebounds in the loss. Sophomore Savanna Butterfield (Londonderry, N.H.) added 18 points and 4 blocked shots for the Raiders with classmate Caitlin Bulger (Quincy, Mass.) chipping in with 11 points.

Rivier will travel to Lynn for their next scheduled contest against Fisher College at 8 p.m. on Thursday night. Framingham State will make the trip to Boston for a date with Suffolk University on Saturday, December 6th at 1 p.m.
