Women’s Basketball Rolls to 68-47 Victory over Lasell

Framingham, Mass. – Senior guard Madeleine Park (Blue Hill, ME) tallied a game-high 22 points as the Framingham State University women's basketball team defeated Lasell College 68-47 this afternoon in non-conference action at Framingham's Athletic & Recreation Center.

With the win, the Rams improve to 2-3 on the year, while the Lasers fall to 3-3.

Park shot 10-of-18 from the field in the game and filled the stat sheet with four rebounds, two steals and a block.  Senior forward Kia Minor (Edgartown, Mass.) followed with 19 points on 8-of-11 shooting from the field to go along with four rebounds and three steals.  Junior Kristen Hoffman (Foxboro, Mass.) chipped in eight points, five assists and six steals, while sophomore Samantha Irvine (Franklin, Mass.) also tallied eight points.

Lasell took a quick 4-0 lead to start the game before the Rams rattled off a 17-0 run fueled by a trio of three pointers to take a 17-4 advantage.  First year Molly Lauver (Cambridge, NY) came off the Lasers bench scoring 10 first half points and helping Lasell cut the Rams lead to eight (30-22) with 3:35 left.  The Rams answered with their second run of the half, this one a 12-2 spurt, to take the half's largest lead, 42-24, at the break.

The Rams controlled the second half extending their lead to as many as 27 as Park scored 11 of her 22 in the frame. 

The Lasers were led by 12 points from Lauver in the game on 5-of-11 shooting from the field to go along with seven rebounds, four steals and three assists.  Sophomore Justine Ryan (Norwood, Mass.) chipped in eight points off the bench for Lasell as their reserves outscored the Rams 27-12 in the game.

The Rams shot 44% for the game (29-66), while the Lasers shot just 32% (19-60) and just 15% from behind the arc.  Framingham State held a 45-38 edge on the boards with each team grabbing 16 on the offensive end.

The Rams return to action on Thursday evening with a non-conference game at Anna Maria College beginning at 7 p.m., while the Lasers host Fitchburg State on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
