North Adams, Mass. - Led by seniors Jen Wehner and Alie Dobrovolc, the MCLA women's basketball team earned an 80-67 MASCAC win over visiting Framingham State University in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action this afternoon.

Wehner tallied game-highs of 29 points and 14 rebounds, while Dobrovolc chipped in with 15 points, including the 1,000th of her career.

MCLA is now 13-10 overall and 6-4 in conference play, while the Rams drop to 12-11 overall and 3-8 in league play.

Dobrovolc missed her first two shot attempts in pursuit of the milestone, but rattled off consecutive jumpers to get to the 1,000 point mark.  Her drive to the basket with 15:04 remaining gave her the magic number.

The Rams opened the scoring on Emily Clark's (Melrose, Mass.) jumper, but MCLA quickly responded with a 19-3 run over the next seven minutes to open up a 19-5 lead.  Wehner scored the team's first seven points of the game.  The trio of Wehner, Dobrovolc, and Lucy Tremblay scored MCLA's first 24 points as they led 24-8.

With the game standing at 32-14 in favor of MCLA, Framingham used a 10-0 run, cutting the deficit to 32-24 with 1:47 left until halftime.  MCLA's Danielle Beauchamp converted a layup to stop the run and MCLA went on to lead 36-26 at halftime.  The Rams were hurt by 28% shooting from the field in the opening half, while MCLA shot 44% from the floor.

Framingham would not go away though, eventually pulling within five at 45-40 following a Kia Minor (Edgartown, Mass.) layup.  MCLA answered with a 7-0 run to move back to a double digit lead at 52-40.  Wehner collected five points in the run.

The Rams cut into the deficit again pulling back within five points on a pair of occasions, yet each time MCLA responded.  The clinching run came with MCLA holding a 58-53 lead.  The hosts used another 7-0 run to push the advantage back to eight, 65-53, 3:39 to play which was the closest Framingham would come the rest of the way.

The Rams placed four players in double figures led by freshman guard Nicole Bostic's (North Easton, Mass.) 17 points.  Minor finished with a double double of 16 points and 10 rebounds before fouling out, while sophomore guard Kristin Hoffman (Foxboro, Mass.) ended with 16 points and junior guard Madeleine Park (Blue Hill, ME) added 15 points.

Wehner shot 12-of-14 from the floor in her 29 point effort and collected 14 rebounds, including 10 on the offensive end.  Dobrovolc added four assists and five rebounds along with her 15 points.  Tremblay finished the game with 12 points, seven rebounds, six assists, and four steals as MCLA shot 47% on the night.

The Trailblazers will be on the road in their final two MASCAC contests, beginning with Tuesday's trip to Fitchburg State, while the Rams play their final conference game on Tuesday night at Westfield State at 5:30 p.m.
